For example, we dream of urban and suburban churches working side-by-side, enjoying mutual relationships, serving together through Charis Community Housing.

Here are some ways you can serve as a Vocational Neighbor:

Bankers
Explain investing, savings, and checking accounts in fun ways to those in our Homeownership Class.

Builders /carpenters (licensed professionals)
Assist with rehab projects within our rental homes, or to provide a rehab for a future homeowner. We need your skills and expertise.

English Teachers
Teach adult literacy classes for residents at GlenCastle. We need someone to teach how to write effective resumes, as well as teach a job search/interviewing class for GlenCastle residents and homeowners.

Green gurus
Sustain our sustainability. Are you passionate about creating ‘green’, healthy housing developments? We are too. Let’s talk.

Inspectors
Consider helping us inspect new construction and rehab projects.

Interior Designers
Teach ‘decorating on a dime’ as a post-homeownership class.

Landscape Architects
Lend your creativity and leadership by overseeing a volunteer group of landscapers at one of our many sites.

Painters
Spruce up our rental homes. Have fun. Paint with excellence.

Photographers
Take family portraits & give the portrait to the family.

Realtor Matrix
We envision a trusted, volunteer network of realtors who specialize in land acquisition and appraisals to assist Charis as extended staff. We also need volunteers available to explain escrow & homeowners insurance to homeowners.

Videographers
Help us create short documentaries for the next generation.
