Our goals

We’re aiming our action in the direction of measurable change. Of course, no one person or group can take credit for long-term change. Charis plays one small part in the larger effort to see South Atlanta transformed into a place where the shalom of God is present.

The following long-term objectives represent some of the ways Charis is partnering with the city of Atlanta and other groups:

Create a mixed-income community with a 70% to 80% owner-occupancy rate by building on vacant lots and increasing the housing density.

Construct in partnership with Atlanta Habitat for Humanity and Charis Community Housing 85 affordable single-family housing units.

Build partnerships through Charis Community Housing with for-profit developers to construct as many as 170 new, market-rate and moderate-rate homes on the remaining vacant lots.

Renovate existing vacant housing stock with income-mix strategy.

Redevelop parcels of land to create additional 300 mixed-income homes while diversifying housing stock.
